san francisco city hall elopement 023

San Francisco City Hall Elopement | Lauren and Troy

Lauren and Troy’s San Francisco City Hall elopement was a pretty great way to get married. No guests, no big production, just the two of them doing their thing and making a day of it around San Francisco.

We started at the Proper Hotel for a few getting-ready shots before heading out into the city. First stop was Chinatown, which is always a bit of a treat to photograph. Colorful storefronts, interesting little alleyways, busy streets and all sorts of visual chaos. Basically, our kind of place. We spent some time wandering around with L + T, grabbing photos wherever something caught our eye before heading over to City Hall. We love when couples build a little exploring into their wedding day rather than just going from A to B. More interesting backdrops, more variety, and generally just a bit more fun.

And then there’s San Francisco City Hall. If you’ve never been inside, you’re seriously missing out. The enormous dome, grand staircases, marble everywhere and all that ridiculously good architecture. Darren could probably spend an entire afternoon just looking at the building (architecture nerd alert), while the rest of us get busy taking photos. We wandered around finding all sorts of little spots and making the most of the place.

If you’re planning a San Francisco City Hall elopement and fancy photographers who’ll happily explore the city with you before or after, appreciate a bit of architectural weirdness and aren’t afraid to wander off in search of a good photo spot, just hit us up!
