Why Getting Married at The Haven at Tomales is the Dream Wedding Venue

A Wedding at The Haven at Tomales is what happens when someone takes 1,000 acres of West Marin farmland, throws in a 150+ year-old barn, rolling hills, eucalyptus forests, ponds, and a healthy dose of coastal weirdness. It’s private, wildly scenic, and somehow manages to feel both properly special and completely unpretentious. You’re close to the coast, close enough to Sonoma County for all the wine-country goodness, but far enough out that the outside world mostly disappears.

The real magic is that The Haven doesn’t need much help looking good. The historic barn brings the character, the surrounding ranchland brings the ridiculous views, and the gardens give you somewhere to wander when you inevitably need five minutes away from your own wedding party. As a Marin County Wedding Photographer, we’re very into venues that let people actually experience the day rather than spending it being shuffled from one photo opportunity to another. The Haven has room for the big moments, the quiet ones, and all the gloriously random stuff that happens in between.

Wedding Photos around The Haven at Tomales

A Wedding at The Haven at Tomales is basically a photographer’s playground disguised as a working ranch. You’ve got rolling coastal hills, open pasture, ponds, huge eucalyptus trees, winding paths, and a 150+ year-old barn all hanging out within the same 1,000 acres. There are multiple ceremony spots too, from the Terraced Garden to the Forest Clearing and Knoll Crest, so you can go full woodland creature, lean into the big open views, or find something somewhere in between.

As a Marin County Wedding Photographer, we love places where the photos don’t all start looking like variations of the same poses. The Haven gives you plenty of room to wander, disappear into the eucalyptus for a few minutes, roam through the fields, and catch that ridiculous coastal light when it starts doing its thing. Then you’ve got the old barn when the party kicks in. Basically, you can get quiet, windswept, weird, romantic, chaotic, and wildly scenic photos without ever having to leave the property. That’s our kind of place.

A Wedding at The Haven at Tomales Ceremony and Reception Spaces

The ceremony options for a Wedding at The Haven at Tomales are pretty much a choose-your-own-adventure situation. You can get married somewhere intimate and tucked into the eucalyptus, or go for a more open spot with sweeping views across the rolling West Marin hills. Either way, you’re surrounded by 1,000 acres of pasture, forest, and coastal landscape, so there’s no shortage of scenery doing the decorating for you. And because the property is exclusively yours for the day, the whole thing feels properly private rather than like you’ve wandered into someone else’s wedding halfway through yours.

Then there’s the Historic Barn, which is where things get a little more polished without losing the whole ranch vibe. Originally built more than 150 years ago, it has cathedral ceilings, chandeliers, dimmable lighting, and a polished Italian-style concrete floor, so it manages to be rustic without looking like you’ve just rented a barn and hoped for the best. For a Wedding at The Haven at Tomales, you can move from an outdoor ceremony into dinner, drinks, and dancing without losing that West Marin atmosphere. As a Marin County Wedding Photographer, we’re very into that kind of setup: beautiful enough to feel special, but relaxed enough that people can actually let loose once the formal stuff is over.

How much does it cost to for a Wedding at The Haven at Tomales and What’s Included?

A Wedding at The Haven at Tomales will generally land somewhere around $16,000–$22,000 for the venue, depending on your guest count, date and how much time you need. Smaller elopement and intimate wedding packages are also available if you’re not planning to invite the entire extended family, your dentist, and that one guy you went to college with. The Haven is a pretty customisable venue, so it’s worth getting a quote based on your actual plans rather than relying too heavily on a generic starting price.

The venue fee gets you quite a bit to work with, including use of the property, ceremony options, the Historic Barn, tables and fruitwood chairs, farm tables, bar setups, cocktail tables, outdoor seating and lawn games. There’s also a golf cart for getting around the 1,000-acre ranch, which is particularly handy when you’re trying to sneak off for photos without trekking across half of West Marin. Setup and breakdown of the in-house equipment is handled by The Haven team, too. Catering and many of the other wedding vendors are brought in separately, so you have plenty of room to make the day your own. As a Marin County Wedding Photographer, we’re especially into venues where the scenery, the barn and the general chaos of a wedding day can all coexist without everything feeling overly polished or precious..
